Back pain affects 60% of Germans every year, making it one of the leading causes of sick leave and early retirement. Yet physiotherapy appointments can take four weeks or more to secure, and many patients never even receive a referral. Berlin-based digital health company Vivira Health Lab is working to close that gap, and it just received fresh capital to go further.

According to the company's press release, Vivira has secured growth financing from IBB Capital, BONVENTURE, and digital health investor Patrick Palacin, co-founder of TeleClinic. The funding will be used to expand patient access, obtain approval for new therapies, and develop additional digital health services for musculoskeletal conditions. Artificial intelligence is set to play a central role, improving therapy adherence and enabling better, legally compliant use of patient data.

Founded in Berlin in 2015, Vivira develops clinically validated digital movement therapies for home use, classified as Digital Health Applications (DiGA) under German law. All statutory health insurers cover the costs, and any doctor in Germany can prescribe it.

CEO Dr. Philip Heimann sees the investment as a springboard: "We have a strong foundation for further growth in Germany, Europe, and beyond," he said in the press release.

IBB Capital's Stefan Sonnenberg emphasized the company's track record, describing Vivira as an innovative part of the healthcare system with dynamic growth. BONVENTURE partner Angela Lawaldt highlighted measurable symptom improvements driven by active patient participation as the key motivation for their investment.

With AI on the roadmap and fresh capital in hand, Vivira looks well positioned to scale up digital musculoskeletal care well beyond Germany.
