Nomerra Raises $2M to Fix Private Markets' Paperwork

Berlin-based startup Nomerra has closed a $2 million pre-seed round to bring AI into one of the least digitized corners of finance: private market operations. According to the company's announcement, the round was led by 14Peaks Capital, with backing from Redstone Fintech and individual investors tied to KKR and Intapp.

The founders, Johannes Gebendorfer and Jakob Zacherl, both cut their teeth at bunch, a Berlin fintech that scaled to more than 100 employees. Their pitch: private markets never got the standardization and interconnected systems that made public markets efficient. Instead, the same data often gets retyped by hand across spreadsheets and isolated tools, sometimes several times for a single transaction. That's a growing problem, since private markets are set to triple in size over the next five years, even as the pool of qualified accountants has shrunk by a third over the past decade.

Nomerra's answer is to connect directly to the systems firms already use, from ERPs to banking platforms to email, pulling everything into one shared context layer. AI agents then follow a firm's existing procedures to handle fund accounting, treasury, and transfer agency work, the unglamorous back-office tasks that keep the industry running.

CEO Gebendorfer compares it to the old telephone switchboard: manual routing that once seemed indispensable and now seems unthinkable. 14Peaks Capital's Edoardo Ermotti says the founders' hands-on experience with the problem gives them an edge that generic AI tools can't match.

With fresh funding in hand, Nomerra plans to grow its engineering team and expand across Europe and the United States.
